One month ago the brand-new Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 AED was released. The Powerheart G5 is the first FDA-cleared AED to combine fully automatic shock delivery, dual-language functionality, variable escalating energy, and fast shock times to help rescuers save an SCA victim’s life according to the May 12th press release.
Recently, the team at AED.com had the opportunity to receive hands-on training with local Cardiac Science representatives and evaluate the newest AED on the market. This AED is packed with great features such as:
• Bright orange color offers easy recognition and deployment
• User-paced instruction from RescueCoach™ voice and text prompts
• Simple one touch button to switch to Spanish language without delay
• Shock time of 10 seconds or less
• Variable escalating energy for additional shocks if necessary
• Rescue Ready® indicator confirms internal circuitry, battery, and pads have passed all self-tests
• IP55 rating for protection against dust and water
• Easily transfer data using USB port
• Pre-Connected Electrode Pads
• 8-year AED warranty
• 4-year performance guarantee on Intellisense® medical-grade battery
Easy to Set Up and Use
The Powerheart G5 allows both professional and first-time users to quickly provide effective, life-saving therapy to a victim of Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Even first-time responders can easily deliver rescue assistance with the RescueCoach™ voice and text prompts that adjust to the rescuer’s live actions in the rescue process.
If Spanish is the primary language in your school or facility, the Powerheart G5 has a dual-language option available. With the simple touch of a button, rescuers may change the voice prompts from English to Spanish, without restarting or delaying the rescue. If accidentally pressed, it is effortless to return to the previous language setting.
The G5 comes with non-polarized pads, meaning they can be placed on either side of a victim’s chest. The pads are pre-connected in the device and are checked with built-in Rescue Ready® technology for presence and functionality during daily, weekly and monthly self-tests.
During a rescue, the Powerheart G5 uses variable escalating energy to deliver customized energy needed to a patient. Defibrillation energy automatically escalates if additional shocks are needed with a fast shock time of 10 seconds or less. If more than one shock is required, the AED does not repeat the same effort. Rather, it increases the energy input to an appropriate higher level.
Following a rescue, the G5 features a USB port to easily transfer data to be used for further assessment of the patient.
Work in an environment where you need a tough AED?
The Powerheart G5 is rugged and built to withstand rough environments. This AED has been tested to military standards and features an IP55 rating for protection against dust and water (a hard pelican case provides an IP57 rating!)
Reliability is Everything
You can rely on the Powerheart G5 AED to work when needed during a rescue thanks to Rescue Ready technology that performs rigorous daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests on all critical components of the device. This includes checking the performance of the medical grade battery and testing pads for presence and functionality. This AED will even alert you when your pads are about to expire so you know when to order a new set!
