During 2012, we have been donating AEDs to groups, companies, and organizations. All of these groups need an AED to varying degrees, but every once in awhile we come across a person or cause who we know deserves an AED before they even mention a donation.
Jason and Gaby Rutkowski are gifted people. They usually work in the healthcare and research fields at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Not long ago they decided to take their skills to Bolivia and work with a foundation call Fundacion Arco Iris and HOPE Worldwide. In Bolivia, they helped teach basic life support and assisted with other programs that benefited the young, often orphaned, teenage children.
While preparing to train the over 200 staff, they found out that the entire hospital grounds was without an AED.
“We were very shocked to hear that,” said Gaby.
At this point she decided to do some research and look for a lower priced AED to place in that hospital.
That’s when she sent an email to Blake.
We recently heard back from them.
They were able to take some pictures while training the staff and told us, “It has been super encouraging seeing people feel more confident to be able to save lives! Thank you again AED.com for the donation you made to us. We know that it has made a huge difference!!”
AED.com is glad to know that our AED will be going to good use.
Hearts are the same all over the world. At any time someone somewhere needs a bit of help to keep their heart beating and hopefully we are making a difference.
Below is the email from Gaby to Blake:

Subject: Thank you!
My husband and I will be volunteering at a hospital in La Paz, Bolivia and assisting with the care and mentoring of children in the social programs through an organization called Fundacion Arco Iris and HOPE Worldwide. While in Bolivia we will be teaching Basic Life Support and assisting with a CNA program that recently started to provide a career opportunity for orphans who have been cared for in the social programs. As we are preparing to train 200+ staff throughout the hospital, we saw a need for emergency equipment in the hospital; we reached out to AED.com to see if they would be willing to help. Mr.
Blake was truly a listening ear and was willing to do whatever it took to help us out. AED.com donated an Automated External Defibrillator
(AED) towards our cause and we believe this donation will help SAVE lives! As we train medical personnel in La Paz we won’t forget the gracious and compassionate heart AED.com had for our dream to become a reality. We are truly grateful!! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
