Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. Every year, 1 in 4 deaths are caused by heart disease. Individuals with heart disease are at a higher risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

To help prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, AED.com is proudly participating in American Heart Month. Throughout the month, we will be pinning delicious heart-healthy recipes to our Pinterest board here. Follow us on Facebook for heart-healthy ideas and show us how you are supporting #GoRed this month!

You can make healthy changes to lower your risk of developing heart disease. Controlling and preventing risk factors is also important for people who already have heart disease. Learn about your risks for heart disease and stroke and stay “heart healthy” for yourself and your loved ones.

To lower your risk of heart disease:

  • Watch your weight.
  • Get active.
  • Eat healthy.
  • Quit smoking and stay away from secondhand smoke.
  • Control your cholesterol and blood pressure.
  • If you drink alcohol, drink only in moderation.
