Cleaning Your ZOLL AED Plus

While the goal is to never have to use an AED, you want to make sure it is ready if needed. While your AED sits on a wall mount or cabinet, it can collect dust over time. The dust or dirt can get into the crevices and cause issues to your device. Cleaning your ZOLL AED Plus periodically gives you the confidence to know that your AED is well-maintained and ready in a moment’s notice.

Cleaning your AED is easy and only takes a few minutes. Perform the following steps in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions:

    1. Ensure your hands are clean and then apply gloves.
    2. If the AED is in the case, take it out.
    3. Visually check your ZOLL AED Plus for any damage.
    4. Clean and disinfect unit with a soft, damp cloth using one of these cleaning solutions:
      • 90% isopropyl alcohol
      • Soap and water
      • Chlorine bleach (30 ml/liter water)
    1. Be sure not to get any fluid inside of the unit.
    2. Dry any moisture from the device.
    3. Make sure that the readiness indicator is showing a green checkmark.
    4. Put the AED back into its case.
    5. Store your AED in a safe, dry place.
  • Do not immerse any part of the unit in water.
  • Do not use ketones (MEK, acetone, etc.).
  • Avoid using abrasives (e.g., paper towels) on the LCD display, if so equipped.
  • Do not sterilize the unit.

Be sure to repeat this process every few months. If your AED is always on the go, you may need to clean it more frequently.
